Sarah Kimber Qigong
I’m grateful to have some lovely reviews from class participants. I hope they give you a flavour of what our qigong sessions are like,
Sarah
“I was lucky enough to meet Sarah a few years ago when she started a class at St. Peter and St. Paul in Hastings. This is a modern church which provides a spacious light venue for our activity.
I felt calmed by the atmosphere Sarah engendered with her quiet words and gentle instructions and I particularly liked the fact that we exercised in silence.
The sessions last an hour and at the time you feel that you are not doing that much as we are guided gently and told not to over-stretch but do only what feels comfortable. Yet, at the end of the session you feel and realise you have exercised every part of the body.
Sarah makes you aware of how you are moving in the space around you and in the wider space beyond the confines of the building, connecting with the world outside. At the same time you are aware of being connected to the world inside yourself. She explains the movements and how they are connecting with different parts of the body.
For me, it is the spiritual side of the movements which is so refreshing. Because you are concentrating on the movement and the images of the exercise, you push away dark and depressing thoughts and leave them behind.
During lock-down those of us with computers have been able to continue with qigong via Zoom. What a delight !
I was astonished one afternoon recently…I was feeling down and weary but I forced myself to join in the session and just left all the negativity behind. At the end of the session I felt so different, refreshed and positive.”
I look forward to the sessions and the peace I discover and would recommend this special experience to anyone. Give it a try you will discover a whole new way of looking at the world and yourself.”

“Sarah is a patient and competent qigong teacher who evidently appreciates all qigong has to offer, both the physical, spiritual and cultural aspects. She explains moves in detail and builds up a routine that is enjoyable and uplifting. You always feel balanced and energised after a session.”

”I have been very fortunate to have had the experience of Primordial Qi gong with Sarah. In a group and one-to-one in the Peace garden at Alexandra Park. This has been just right for me as it was in outside natural places, connecting with nature and the seasons and when possible an art activity to link with the time of the year.
Sarah is a very gentle and sensitive teacher but also has an ability to give clear instructions to aid good practice.”

”Sarah has been coming to Marsham Older People’s Project (MOPP) for a number of years to lead our members in Seated Exercises. The group of approximately 40 people range in age from 60 to 97 and all enjoy the chance to take part in the activity despite their differing abilities. The exercises are gentle on their ageing joints but strenuous enough to combat limitations often caused by a decline in muscle strength, mobility and flexibility in older people.
Many of our members have integrated the exercises demonstrated by Sarah into their daily routine and have experienced positive changes in physical fitness and wellbeing and decrease in pain. One member, having broken her hip during a fall, started a daily session from her hospital bed for the other members in her ward!
Sarah’s calm and friendly manner ensure she is always a popular visitor to our Friday meetings.

“After any one-hour session with Sarah, I feel mentally and physically refreshed. During the past year I have been 24/7 support for my 95 year-old mum and the zoom sessions that Sarah has offered have been very special to me.
Not only do I enjoy following her gentle but purposeful lead in qigong movements, but also her invitations to mindfulness. Sarah has no problem with people who need to sit and although we are muted in the zoom sessions, she always says at the start of the session that we can unmute ourselves to ask questions as we go along. I feel she genuinely cares for participants, and I enjoy learning with her. Long may our journey continue!”

" We were very pleased to be able to offer qigong sessions with sarah as the tutor to local residents as this was an activity lots of people had wanted to try. The sessions were attended by older people and most managed standing up, a couple of people sat down to do the session, which shows how versatile qigong is and how everyone can participate. The sessions were one of the best attended sessions we had organised, and everyone remarked how much better physically and mentally they felt after each session. We will certainly be asking Sarah to return when it is safe to do so."
